Why exercises matter
Specifications describe what a system should do. Exercises show what it does under real conditions: a maneuvering brigade, a multinational command structure, an intelligence request with a clock on it. ICEYE's ISR system is constantly tested inside live exercises. While all of them are not public, some of them are. Here you can read what they proved.
Two layers of that system have been exercised. At the tactical edge, the ISR Cell (antenna, processor, operator workstation and analytics, deployable within hours) has operated inside brigade-level workflows. At the sovereign level, ICEYE SAR has been tested for interoperability between allied nations without any one nation losing control of its own asset.

Space EX26 was Portugal's first military exercise dedicated to the space domain, run by the Portuguese Air Force's Center for Space Operations. Six nations and one NATO body spent five days tracking orbital objects, sharing space-domain data across borders and testing joint command and control. The exercise tested whether a sovereign SAR capability can be folded into a shared, multinational operating picture without the owning nation giving up control of its own asset.
Fighter Lion ran a fictional large-scale invasion scenario, with the Royal Netherlands Army tasked to halt the first phase before heavier armored forces took over. ICEYE operators deployed a mobile ISR Cell inside the Army's own workflow. Satellite imagery reached the analyst's desk in just under 13 minutes from acquisition. Ground troops also received SAR signature training, seeing how their own equipment appears from orbit.
The Danish Armed Forces tested how decoy and concealment methods hold up against space-based SAR reconnaissance, including metal decoys built to mimic the radar signature of real equipment. Distinguishing a real target from a decoy is not a matter of resolution alone. It comes from image quality, repeated observation of the same area from different angles, and a recognition capability that reads the nuances of a SAR image.
ORION 2026 was a French-led multinational exercise built around high-intensity coalition warfare against a near-peer adversary, spanning land, air, cyber and space. ICEYE embedded an ISR Cell inside a French Army infantry brigade, working at the core of the brigade's intelligence and targeting processes, alongside drone and reconnaissance units, delivering wide-area coverage that holds through weather and darkness against dispersed, low-signature targets.
ICEYE's ISR system is constantly tested at military exercises against different problems. A Dutch force stopping an invasion at the border. A Danish audience at command level assessing what space-based reconnaissance changes for them. A French brigade folding satellite intelligence into a live targeting cycle. Six nations, led by Portugal, testing whether sovereign SAR can plug into a shared, multinational picture. None of these were controlled demonstrations. Each was a working deployment inside someone else's exercise.
The ISR Cell is the tactical endpoint of that system. Sovereign SAR interoperability is the layer above it. Both are being exercised by allied nations, not just described in a data sheet.
