Special Situations: Early‑Career, Career Changers and Accommodations

Not every candidate follows a traditional path. At ICEYE, we see that as a strength. Whether you’re early in your career, shifting industries, or need adjustments during the process, there are ways to present your story clearly and confidently.

If you’re early in your career, you may not have years of experience, but you likely have more to show than you think. University projects, internships, hackathons, open‑source contributions, personal apps or tools, all of these can demonstrate skills and initiative.

Focus on what you did, not just what the assignment was. Did you take the lead on a certain part? Did you improve something beyond the basic requirements? Did you collaborate across disciplines? Show us that you’re curious, proactive, and able to learn quickly.

If you’re changing careers or industries, your transferable skills are crucial. Systems thinking, operations in critical environments, leadership, customer work, data analysis, these can all translate well into new contexts. Use your CV and motivation to connect those dots for us. Explain clearly why you’re moving into this field now and what you’ve already done to prepare, whether that’s self‑study, courses, or side projects.

Finally, if you need accommodations or adjustments, we strongly encourage you to let your recruiter know early. That could mean extra time for a task, a different interview format, or other practical support. Our goal is to run a fair process where you can show your best self. Asking for what you need is not a disadvantage; it’s part of creating an inclusive environment.

Every candidate brings a different story. What matters most is not having a “perfect” path, but being able to explain yours honestly, and showing how your skills, mindset, and values align with the work we’re doing.

Check List: Career Changes

Early‑career candidates
Emphasize projects (university, internships, hackathons, open‑source, personal) and show that you learn fast and take initiative.

Career or industry changers
Highlight transferable skills (systems thinking, operations, leadership, data, customer work) and explain clearly why you’re moving into this field and how you’ve prepared.

If you need accommodations
Tell your recruiter early if you need extra time, a different format, or other adjustments. This helps us plan a fair process and will not count against you.
