IMPROVE SAFETY & EFFICIENCY OF OIL PIPELINES MONITORING

Significantly decrease costs on right of way monitoring and improve integrity and threat management processes for oil pipelines with frequent and reliable radar satellite data.

Persistent monitoring of oil pipelines and their construction sites with radar satellites guarantees provision of accurate information on construction activities and vegetation incursion. Daily SAR interferometry (InSAR) ensures delivery of the most recent information on the land displacement, detecting down to millimetric ground deformation.

Right of Way (ROW) Monitoring of Oil Pipelines with Radar Satellites

There are three key pipeline integrity problems satellite-based pipeline monitoring can tackle:

  • Right of way third party interference, where for example road construction or other excavation activities expose underground pipelines to potential physical damage
  • Pipeline oil theft, where oil pipelines are hot tapped and oil trucks are used to transport stolen oil from the pipeline
  • Geohazards, where risks for landslides are monitored, pipeline river crossings are monitored for risks of exposing pipelines etc.

ICEYE SAR satellite data is used to automatically detect changes in the defined pipeline corridor, and then analyzed by machine learning to classify those changes. Combined with ICEYE analyst validation, you receive actionable information for ROW monitoring. Reporting is generated within hours and delivered to the customer typically integrated into customer system.

ICEYE Oil Pipelines Solution Provides

  • Daily interferometry with down to millimetric accuracy in land deformation detection
  • Persistent monitoring of construction sites
  • Instant response to pipeline incidents and estimation of impacted areas
  • Early warning on anomalies

ICEYE continues to grow its current SAR satellite constellation capacity with the objective to provide daily interferometry and coherent change detection anywhere on Earth with a 24h ground track repeat. This breaks existing barriers in collecting SAR imagery stacks for InSAR analysis, bringing the collection time down with every new satellite in the ICEYE constellation. Since 2018, ICEYE has launched commercially available SAR satellites, and the company will continue to increase the size of the commercial constellation every year.
