Helsinki, October 15, 2024 - ICEYE, a world-leading provider of satellite & earth observation based natural catastrophe solutions and insights, has announced the availability of its Flood Insights product in Taiwan, through an analytics data reselling partnership with Interactive Digital Technologies Inc. (IDT), the Esri ArcGIS Distributor in Taiwan.
IDT is the sole distributor for Esri’s ArcGIS platform in Taiwan, the global leader in GIS technology, mapping, and spatial analytics software. ICEYE’s Flood Insights will be available for customers in Taiwan to purchase for the ArcGIS platform, benefiting commercial entities, including insurance companies, and emergency management agencies in Taiwan.
ICEYE’s Flood Insights solution is the world’s first always-on flood monitoring tool. It combines satellite remote sensing with observational ground truth to deliver GIS-ready flood insights within hours. Powered by the world’s largest constellation of cloud-penetrating SAR satellites, owned and operated by ICEYE, it enables customers to quickly assess local impacts and coordinate resources.
The market availability is timely given the recent impacts of Typhoon Krathon which made landfall in Southern Taiwan in early October 2024, and Typhoon Gaemi, in July 2024. The typhoons brought torrential rain and heavy winds that caused landslides, floods and power outages.
"Our alliance with ICEYE marks a pivotal moment in Taiwan's technological advancement. By fusing ICEYE's innovative satellite capabilities with IDT's market insights, we're not just improving disaster response – we're pioneering a new era of environmental intelligence for Taiwan and beyond," said Tim Kuo, Vice President of IDT.
“The partnership with ICEYE is a match made in heaven,” says Walk Chang, Director of Technical Services Department and Application Development Department, IDT. The partnership with IDT offers in-country sales and consulting services for geographic information-related software and hardware. The dynamic nature of flood events in Taiwan can make these events particularly difficult to manage. IDT is a leading Esri distributor and systems integrator in the Taiwanese market, managing geospatial systems and datasets, and enhancing product offerings to serve new and existing Esri ArcGIS customers in Taiwan.
Commenting on the announcement, Paul Barron, Global Head of Partnerships at ICEYE, said: “ICEYE’s Flood Insights offers unique information to power local response and recovery in Taiwan as well as support Insurance and other Commercial customers to better manage their risk. The dataset can help prepare for anticipated natural hazards, adapt to changing conditions, and aid with recovering from disruptions. ICEYE is looking forward to supporting these important Commercial and Governmental customers across Taiwan together with IDT.”
